So far this football season, the varsity football team has a winning record. After defeating Liberty County, Long County, Pinewood Christian Academy, Windsor Forest, and Beach High School the team is currently 5-3. The JV team is currently 3-2. The Hornets are led by captains, Tyler Scott, John Avino, Barton Mixon, and Rooster Bing. 

Senior and captain Rooster Bing stated, “We have a winning region record right now. It’s great having Ray Ray back too. We beat Liberty and Long county, two region teams that we lost to last year. The team is a lot more together because of the connections that we have built going against big teams previous years. The team is now working towards our objective of making it to the playoffs”. If the Hornets keep up their winning record, they will make it to the playoffs, improving from last year. 

Coach Mohring has been the varsity football coach for 3 years now. When asked about this season he says, “We play really well, so if we continue to play at a high level we will earn the chance to play in the playoffs”. Coach Mohring is assisted by Coach Romano, Coach Mixon, Coach Short, and Coach Blackmore. All of these coaches have played a part in the success of the football team this year. In these upcoming weeks, we wish our hornets luck in their attempt to make it to the playoffs, and congratulate them on their successful season thus far.
