As the sun sets on another thrilling season of baseball, the Savannah Country Day Hornets have plenty to be proud of, despite their season-ending loss to Peach County in the playoffs. With a roster brimming with talent and ambition, the Hornets have laid a strong foundation for future success.

One of the standout stars of the team, senior, left handed pitcher Dalton Brown, has been a force on the mound this season. Known for his sharp curveball and intimidating fastball, Brown has been a key player for the Hornets, leading them through many close games with his pitching prowess. His skills have not gone unnoticed, as he is set to continue his baseball career at Lafayette College next year, where he will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to their squad. 

Behind the plate, catcher Garret Larfona has been another critical component of the Hornets’ success. Leading the team in home runs, Larfona’s powerful batting and strategic game sense have made him a formidable presence in the lineup. His commitment to Flagler College marks the next step in what promises to be an exciting baseball career.

Not to be overlooked, freshman Ben Kleinpeter has made a significant impact in his first high school season. Taking up the crucial position of left field, Kleinpeter has shown that he can compete with the best of them, displaying maturity and skill well beyond his years. His standout performances have not only contributed to the team’s success this year but also signal great potential for the seasons to come.

Although the Hornets fell short of a championship this year, losing to a strong Peach County team in the playoffs, the mood within the camp is optimistic. The Hornets look to return a lot of key starters especially on the mound. Looking ahead to next season, the Hornets have a solid base to build on. The team’s blend of experienced leaders and emerging young talent is a formula for success.
