Review

Donda can be best described with one word “underwhelming.” Having previously released almost all of his albums revolving around upbeat notions and sounds, this album seems somewhat out of place. Albums like College Dropout and Graduation are full of beats of happiness and with a tone of eagerness. Donda is his one exception. The album was written, in memory, of his mother, Dr. Donda C West. Therefore, the album should innately be sad and melancholy. However, the album constantly switches from more of a hip-hop sound to the symbolism of his mother’s life. The inconsistency in song tone, as well as an unnecessarily long list of songs, lands the rating at 6.5/10 from us.
