Tis the season for Cookies!

Tis the season for Cookies!

The holiday season is the perfect excuse to make massive amounts of desserts, especially cookies. I have had a lot of experience finding and perfecting different types of cookie recipes, and the best part about making cookies is that you can decorate them however you want. If you  want plain cookies, these recipes are for you, or if you want cookies that you can decorate for the holiday you celebrate, these recipes are for you also! During the holidays my family and I always have a cookie bake-off to see who the Cookie King or Queen of the family is. During these “friendly” competitions, I make a list of the best or most creative cookies I saw that year to have ideas for the next year’s competition. Here is that list.

1. Plain sugar cookies

  • These cookies are the best because of their genericness. They are incredibly delicious to make and so versatile. The recipe is so easy, and the cookies are completely customizable. You can add food coloring to them to turn them into any color you want, and you can also turn them into any shape you want. These cookies are also fun to have at parties because people can decorate them however they want. This is the best recipe I have found to make these cookies: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/sugar-cookies-recipe-1914697

2. Chocolate crinkle cookies

  • These cookies are for those who love chocolate. They are rich and very fudgy. I love these cookies because they are unique, and everyone I have ever made them for has loved them. Baking them is also why I enjoy them so much because the process is so fun. Kids always love rolling the dough through the powdered sugar. They are a great gift to bring to dinners and Christmas parties. This is my favorite recipe for these cookies: https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a35045078/chocolate-crinkle-cookies-recipe/

3. Trash cookies

  • Don’t knock these cookies till you try them. Even though the name might sound suspicious, I promise these cookies are amazing. A great thing about these cookies is their versatility. You can follow recipes for these cookies, or you can  use any recipe to make your favorite cookies and throw in a load of different toppings. You can put potato chips, chocolate chips, pretzels, M&M’s, and sprinkles in there, as well as any other kind of add-in you want. These cookies are great because they allow kids to let their imagination run free by putting all the topping they want into the cookies. I use this recipe for the base of the cookie, but I normally just throw in whatever toppings I want: https://www.thebakingchocolatess.com/santas-christmas-trash-cookies/
