The Savannah Country Day School’s fall cheerleading squad has cheered our Hornets to a 2-0 start.  During our first home game against Bulloch Academy, our student section was buzzing with electricity thanks to our SCDS cheerleading squad.  Our cheerleader’s have been busy all summer long preparing for the upcoming fall season while attending the National Cheerleading Association’s Camp in St. Augustine, Florida. There, they were recognized as a top team, receiving the NCA Spirit Stick on their first day attending, the Herkie Team Adward, and the Technical Excellence Award.  While at the camp, Karenna Lapp, SCDS Class of 2024’ and Ella Haas, SCDS Class of 2025’, were crowned St. Augustine’s NCA Top All American Cheerleaders!  Our squad also hosted the Little Hornet Cheerleading camp in July, inspiring future Savannah Country Day Cheerleaders. This year’s fall cheerleading squad is coached by Emma Huennekens and Julie Cohen, and has thirty-seven total members. The interest was so high this year the coaches were able to fill two cheerleading squads. Varsity Captains are Reese Ritchie and Anna Wollenburg. Junior Varsity captains are Ella Barrow and Greer Hollis. The squad has nine seniors who have truly stepped into their roles as the leaders. Our Senior Hornet Cheerleaders include Kendall Yarber, Rachel Wollenburg, Anna Wollenburg, Lauren Sparks, Reese Ritchie, Emma Mixon, Haley Hiltzheimer, Isobel Gonzalez, and Haley Avino. Go Hornets!
