The girl’s tennis team has had an impressive start to the season, going 13-1. Captains Katherine Ezelle and Charlton Strong have added multiple wins to the already triumphant lineup of other players, including seniors Mya Felser, Anna Wylly, Amanda Chen, and Carmen Mandel. In one of the toughest competitions this year, the team managed to pull through with a second-place trophy at Jekyll Jam in the finals versus opponent Columbus, as their only loss of the season. These girls do not just wear cute tennis skirts for fun, they are a team to be reckoned with, and we can not wait to see how far they will advance this year. They hope to go into the region tournament as the #1 seed as they battle Savannah Christian and Saint Vincents for the top spot. Junior player, Claudia Birthisel, says, “our team has grown so much from last year, and everyone’s love for the game allows us to win every match that we play in. This year we are trying to prove ourselves by winning the region championship.” All of the players’ strong devotion to the team makes the matches riveting to watch and puts their team above all others. The region tournament is set to take place on April 12, and we hope to see our lady Hornets come home with a trophy!
