Movie: Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic, you know it, you love it, and it has stood the test of time. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, the story revolves around the witchy Sanderson sisters, resurrected 300 years after their deaths. A group of kids and a talking cat must stop these witches from achieving immortality via stealing the life force of children.
Each witch is iconic in their own way. Winifred Sanderson comes off beautifully over-the-top and the other two complement her fantastically with their zany antics. The catchy musical sequences, witty one-liners, and interesting special effects add to the charms of this 30-year old classic, and while it isn’t a cinematic masterpiece, Hocus Pocus is a movie we head back to year after year for the compelling characters and enjoyable time.
