Swifties Meet Football: A Scripted Relationship?

Swifties+Meet+Football%3A+A+Scripted+Relationship%3F

I, like most people, turn on some T Swift on occasion; every once in a while, when I am in my feels, I bump the song ‘Blank Space’; but, truthfully, these last few weeks have sucked, and it all culminated in Super Bowl LVIII. I am sick and tired of seeing Taylor Swift covered at football games, and she is only a distraction, taking away from the real talent in the game. This season has been screwed over by this unessential coverage, and it makes sense because judges clearly haven’t been focused, and that is apparently obvious as T.J. Watt didn’t win DPOY. But, I digress: I have seen Taylor Swift everywhere. When I went to the movie theater, I accidentally went into the Eras Tour movie, and every news show has had a segment about her monumental success. However, I draw the line and find it inappropriate when Taylor Swift is being glazed at the biggest event in football, the Super Bowl. It was the biggest game of the year, and the coverage was focused on someone who hardly knows anything about football. It has made all of us true football fans so tiresome when notable interceptions and touchdowns are overshadowed by a Taylor Swift reaction. But, to Taylor’s credit, she did bring the beautiful Ice Spice to the Super Bowl, but unfortunately, she knew even less about football, and Taylor, of all people, had to explain to Ice the basics of football. Truly, it was most agonizing throughout the season when I saw ESPN posting about teams losing and celebrating Taylor as if she had a part in the win. It’s easy to see that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship is just a PR stunt, and the fact is that the NFL is raking in millions from their success. Unfortunately, it gets even worse when I am once again scrolling through Instagram and I find a dumb conspiracy theory about whether Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift will get married, and it means nothing to true sports fans; it might be newsworthy for TMZ but not sports broadcasting. I watch football to see hard hits and quarterbacks throwing nukes, not Taylor Swift or the attention she draws. The Taylor Swift cult needs to leave the NFL alone and go dominate a useless sport like soccer.
