The 2022 SCDS Varsity Cheer team is off to a great start this season as they feature four stunt groups and enough energy to entertain the student section. I’m not qualified to speak in depth about our cheerleading squad, so I went to another junior, Annie Lelos, for some help and inside information. Annie told me that the team’s favorite cheers are: “Brrr.. it’s cold in here” and “We’ve got spirit,” which are both obvious student section favs. The Hornet cheerleaders are looking forward to showing off their new routines, cheers, and stunts at the upcoming football games. Annie says the most exciting part about cheering is “being able to be right on the sidelines cheering on the Hornets.” Annie also says that the best part about being an SCDS cheerleader is being able to be a role model for the younger Hornet cheerleaders. She emphasizes, “we love being able to be people that they look up to and being able to bring the Little Hornet Cheer Camp from over the summer onto the field for some of the games is such a fun experience!” Another junior cheerleader Rachel May voiced her opinion on acting as a role model by saying, “I love being able to be someone that the little Hornets look up to. I had so much fun at cheer camp with Gg, one of my friend’s little sisters. Although her older sister could never in a million years be a cheerleader, I have hope that G will take the right path and become a varsity cheerleader one day.” Come out and support your Hornet cheerleading team as they fill Friday nights with fun and spirit!
